Luxury Leather Brands LLC is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Williams, as the new President of Ghurka, the American heritage brand for leather goods. Bobby, as he is known in the industry, brings more than 40 years of experience in the category. His past positions include more than twenty years at Hartmann, Inc., Managing Director of Knomo, and founder and President of Boconi Bags & Leather, which was acquired by Unified Leather, Inc. in 2022.

In 2023, Williams successfully relaunched at ProjectNY, Dallas Menswear, & The Chicago Collective trade shows where it was well-received by buyers at better stores across the country. Ghurka will also launch in Japan this holiday season at Tomorrowland; with two more international partners planned for 2024. The company also looks to expand its partnerships in the United Kingdom next year. Ghurka already has Corporate Partnerships with Crewe Cup, Flexjet, & McLaren and will look to add top-tier luxury hotels and resorts, golf and tennis clubs with a new GhurkaSport collection, and shop-in-shops with selected wholesale partners.
Growth for the Ghurka brand is estimated at +20-25% YTD with a strong Holiday Season planned for 2023. Creative Director John Truex says, “With Bobby’s leadership and our marketing and sales teams in place, I am confident that our new designs, inspired by Ghurka’s rich past, will inspire customers with their modern functionality for today’s sophisticated consumer.”
Williams says, “At Ghurka we have been handcrafting ‘timeless classics’ since the 1970s. Now we are at an exciting trajectory of the company's history as we begin to launch our luxury collections to specialty and department stores nationwide for the first time in almost six years. We are fortunate to have the talented John Truex painstakingly restoring our archival silhouettes while elevating and updating them to today’s standards. In addition, Ghurka is now adding new team members in sales, marketing, & e-commerce to support brand growth."
